AKA: My pom name will be Peter Stainiey
if I ever get to pick one
Age:31
Years skating: Way too long to suck this
bad. Nineteen years, but I went through a
phase in the mid "90s when I smoked a lot
of dirt weed, dropped a bunch of acid, and
listened to too much Grateful Dead. Lefs
cali it my psychedelic years. It was a dark
time, but the upside is that I made it out of
that whole expenence with no tribal tattoos
First Thrasher you saw: I don't
remember; maybe that has something to do
with the answer to the last question. It was
the only mag that was in my town growing
up in Oklahoma and Texas—I know for
sure it was the first skate mag I ever saw
Years taking pictures: For hm, 15 years.
For a living, about seven. When was
Shorty's good again?
Years shooting for Thrasher: A littie less
than two years on staff, but Jake and Mikę
have been nice to me for a long time nów.
Sending me boxes of film so I could eat
when I was spending all my money on film
and processing. When I moved to LA I was
living on my friend Bobby's floor and out
of my car. Then I met Brit; she saw all the
Thrashers scattered around in the car I was
living out of. I moved in with her soon after
that. Then she madę me move out because
of all the Thrashers scattered around the
house. Thanks for all the hełp, guys. Don't
know if I ever said that
First photo in Thrasher: I don't
remember that one, either. Fucking acid
years! I do know that the first photo I ever
had published was a portrait of Tony Tieu
in SLAP, and my name was spelled David
Brock. That was a good day
First Thrasher cover: Only cover of
Thrasher, fucking nick. Sierra Fellers,
kicknip 50-50

Favorite photo you shot: Muska,
waliride at the Love Bowi in AŻ. It's all
been downhill from there
the universe. Like you get to cheat at life.
While eyeryone else is doing crap work
they hate for a paycheck and living for the
weekend, you're out doing what you love
with your friends and getting paid for it.
Nothing feels bettęr than that
Worst shit ever, photo-wise;
Frank Gerwer
Top five skaters of all time: Gator,
Josh Swindell, Christian Hosoi, Andy Rny...
Maybe Antwuan untii hę gets out of jail
Best free thing you got from having
yourjob: My life
Worst slam with the camera bag:
I was pushing my camera bag on top of
my board, scooter-style, with my flashes
on my back and my tripods around my
neck in Barcelona. Hit a rock or something.
Next thing I know my face hits the ground,
the tripods arę in my gut, and the board's
gone... I stood up and my pants were split
up the crotch. Moral of that is: Always wear
underwear. My cameras were all over the
place and my junk was hanging out in the
middłe of a crowded square. It didn't hurt,
it just sucked. It's hard to ask for safety pins
in Spanish when you don't speak Spanish.
I was walking around with all my stuff,
holding my pants together, and walking into
stores pointing at my crotch saying, "Safety
pins?" Real loud, too, like that would help.
Favorite camera:
Man, I miss the square sometimes
Favorite Photoshop tool:
The clone! Getting rid of filmers is amazing.
Stay back, ya dicks
Favorite skate 'zine:
Lowcard makes good shirts...
Best up-and-coming photog: Atiba
